Monday 6:00-6:55pm Dance Abilities ages 7+

Does your special needs child or adult love to dance?! Positions Dance Studio provides a two class options specifically tailored for students ages 7-adult with Down Syndrome, Autism and other developmental disabilities called Dance Abilities. These classes will allow students to gain balance between the two halves of the body, express emotion, and gain muscle control, all while having a ball and making some new friends.

Dance Abilities is a great way for children and adults with special needs to get involved in an extracurricular activity while improving motor skills, confidence, and socialization. Dance can also be a unique and effective way to reach students with special needs because it is nonverbal. Through simple patterns, sequencing, and repetition, students will learn the basics of movement, rhythm, and jazz dance. Some creative movement and yoga are incorporated into class, too.

"We like the Dance Abilities class because our son loves to dance. Its a pressure free environment and he has made some really great friends.  It is great exercise and I believe it is helping him with his sense of rhythm.  He loves performing for the audience. He just told me the recital makes him happy and it is exciting!" - Parent of Dance Abilities Student

"My daughter has been dancing at Positions Dance Studio for 7 years in the Dance Abilities Class. She absolutely loves this class. Being a child with Autism, she is able to be herself in this class without any judgements. She not only loves to dance, but she looks forward to seeing all her friends that she has made in this class over the years. A great big Thank You to Kelly for seeing the need to have a dance class like this one!!"- Parent of Dance Abilities Student
